
1. Depressed Mood
Its a feeling of sadness - Men may turn upset and become violent and angry, while ladies may start crying frequently. Kids may show a lot of uneasiness and irritation.
2. Decreased Interest or Pleasure
Day to day work may get affected - the person may suddenly loose interest in various activities which he performs.
3. Weight Changes
Goes both ways - gain or loss of weight significantly, say more than five percent within a period of 30 days can be a big indication of depression and anxiety. This is a special symptom of depression in children.
4. Sleep Disturbances
Both ways again - either sleeping too much or loosing minimum required sleep is one more cause of concern.
5. Psychomotor Agitation or Retardation
The person may be observed to be either agitated and restless or physically slowed down in their movements.
6. Fatigue
Deep fatigue or a loss of energy is a symptom of depression.
7. Feelings of Worthlessness
Suddenly, if you feel that there is no one to listen to you, no one gives you any importance, no one cares for you, then most probably you are depressed.
8. Lower Brain Activity
A diminishing ability to think and judge is another symptom of depression.
9. Thoughts of Death
A depressed person may have recurring thoughts of death, especially thoughts of suicide, with or without a specific plan.
10. Feelings of being Guilty
Whether or not you do anything right or wrong, you may feel quite guilty. And that may remind of many instances of your long past, even for childhood, when you made mistakes and you start feeling guilty about it. The links continue and one even of guilt feeling takes you to other. This is another symptom of depression
