What are the common Temporary Hair Removal Methods?
* Shaving for Hair Removal: The most common and the day to day method for removing facial hairs (also other hairs at body parts). Has the benefits of easy use at home, no side effects and simple application.
* Depilatories for Hair Removal: This is basically the use of various Hair Removing Products like creams or shaving powders. These contain some chemicals strong enough to actually dissolve the hair. Hence, care should be taken while using them on sensitive areas. Consult a skin specialist to know which Hair Removing cream will be correct for you and not affect your skin.
* Friction for Hair Removal based Hair Removal: This process though not very common uses friction with a rough surfaces and the hair gets removed.
* Plucking for Hair Removal: This hair removal method is used at sensitive areas where the hair line is not so dense and needs some minor trimming. For e.g. at eye brows. In this method, hairs are plucked, or pulled out, using suitable instruments.
* Waxing for Hair Removal: Another common method followed by both men and women. Either a cold or a hot layer is formed on the affected body area, say using honey, and then a strip or piece of cloth is placed onto it. The sticky layer ensures that the hair are stuck onto the cloth or strip and then it is allowed to settle down. Once set, the cloth is suddenly pulled with a jerk, which takes away all the hair along with the sticky layer.
* Sugaring for Hair Removal: This is a kind of Waxing method, a sticky paste is used in this.
* Threading for Hair Removal: In this method, 2 cross hairs (like scissors) are used to be rolled on the skin, which pluck out the unwanted hair from the body part. Used on face and other regions. Commonly used at beauty parlours, but can also be done at home if one learns the art of controlling the threads.
* Burning off with hot wax: This method uses hot wax to be put and stick at the affected areas usually legs and arms. This causes the hair to disappear for long period. However, there are problem as well with this method of Hair Removal. It can temporary or permanently damage the cells and should be used only on hard skin areas.
*Use of Home Methods for Hair Removal: A home made lotion of Turmeric along with other ingredients like (gram powder) like besan, rose water & milk may be used to remove Unwanted hair.
* Epilators: These are some devices (mechanical & electronic) which can be used to pull out the hair.
* Prescription oral medicines: In some cases, medicines can also be used for Hair Removal.
* Enzymes: (fx. the Epiladerm-Complex) that block the new hair cells finally affecting the hair growth and completely removing them. inhibiting the enzyme ornithine decarboxylase)
