What is I-Pill? or What is an Emergency Contraceptive Pill?
I-Pill or Emergency Contraceptive Pill is a kind of special tablet which is used in cases when someone has gone through unsafe and unprotected sexula intercourse and is willing to go for INSTANT prevention of unwanted pregnancy. So, an Emergency Contraceptive Pill can be used in such cases but within a limited timeframe of having sexula intercourse to avoid unwanted pregnancy. Remember the word "Within a certain time limit" - that is the most important part of using Emergency Contraceptive Pill or I-Pill for an example. In case of I-Pill or any other tablets available like Unwanted 72, the tablet has to be taken WITHIN 72 hours of intercourse. It is ineffective after that.

What is the time by which I can take Emergency Contraceptive Pill or I-Pill?
In case you have had unprotect or unsafe sex, you must take this Emergency Contraceptive Pill within 72 hours only - the sooner the better. However, there are certain cases in which the Emergency Contraceptive Pill may not be effective even if taken within 72 hours. The effectiveness of the Emergency Contraceptive Pill will decreases as time passes by, so the later you take it, the more chances of its failure.

In which cases can the I-Pill or Emergency Contraceptive Pill be taken? or How does Emergency Contraceptive Pill I-Pill work?
There are 3 different ways in which Emergency Contraceptive Pill I-Pill work:

1) It simply prevents or stops the egg to be released from the ovary

2) It can act upon the sperms and prevent them fertilising the egg

3) Even if the egg is fertilised, it may stop it from implanting itself to the uterus wall.

According to Cipla, i-pill is 95% effective within 24 hours of unprotected sex, 85% between 25 - 48 hours and 58% if taken between 49 - 72 hours.

In which cases will the Emergency Contraceptive Pill I-Pill fail? or In which conditions the Emergency Contraceptive Pill I-Pill not be effective?
I-Pill Emergency Contraceptive Pill can be a failure if there has been fertilization of egg and it has implanted itself onto the walls of the uterus or womb. That is why the 72 hourr or 3 day deadline has been prescribed for taken this Emergency Contraceptive Pill. Generally, the attachment of the fertilised egg to the wall happens by the 3rd day, hence taking i-pill after that will not be anyway useful.
However, eve after taking the I-pill within 72 hours, you must go for a pregnancy test later, to ensure that the Emergency Contraceptive Pill has been successful in avoiding you pregnancy. See the next section
