What are the various kinds of oils that are used for Ayurvedic Massage Therapy?
Ayurvedic Massage Therapy has its roots in the massage oils and the ways they are prepared. The medicinal properties which are found in herbs and other roots and qyurvedic plants are exploited to prepare excellent quality of Ayurvedic Massage Oils.
Not only that, Ayurvedic Massage Therapy is highly selective about the patient and the types of oil to be used for that. Hence, Men, Women and Children of various ages are advised to be applied the different oils depending upon the purpose for Ayurvedic Massage Therapy.
Here we give some brief details about the Ayurvedic Massage Therapy Oils usually advised for various people of various age groups for the treatment of various diseases.
Massage oils for Ladies and children : Use 4 cups of sesame oil, along with 2 tablespoons of almond oil, 2 tablespoons of wheat germ oil and 2 tablespoons of jasmine oil.
Massage oils for Males or Men : Use 4 cups of sesame oil, along with 2 tablespoons of mustard oil, heated with half a teaspoon of asafoetida. Now this muste be filtered to get rid of the mustard oil, then add 3 tablespoons of turmeric (haldi) powder and heat it till the turmeric turns dark brown. Then add to the sesame oil.
The following massage oils are primarily used to stabilise an aggravated or simply dominant dosha :
Aggravated Dosha --- Primary Ayurvedic Massage oils
Vata --- Sesame
Pitta --- Coconut
Kapha --- Mustard or Olive Oil
