The most common method of treatment of warts is application of chemicals at the affected areas. Here is the list of chemicals used for treatment of warts:
* Podophyllum resin paint
* Use of salicylic acid & blistering agents - OTC medicine, easily available over the counter
* Dinitrochlorobenzene (DNCB) - has a high success rate of upto 80%, but comes with a high risk also - it can cause genetic mutations, hence it must be taken under strict medical supervision
* Fluorouracil - realtively new, not yet proven, still in testing phase
Then there are several processes which can be used for treatment of warts:
* Keratolysis for wart Treatment: This process involves removing of dead surface skin cells
* Electrodesiccation for wart Treatment
* Cryosurgery for wart Treatment: This method is to freeze the warts completely with some coolent like liquified nitorgen and force the wart to die and it falls off automatically after being dead. But this might require lot of rounds of treatments, usually 3 to 4 rounds for thin skin areas while many more rounds for thick skinned areas
* Surgical curettage of the wart for wart Treatment:
* Laser for wart Treatment:- This is one of the very common methods for treatment of warts. The laser beam used can be a pulse dye laser or carbon dioxide (CO2) laser.
However, the laser treatments for wart Removal can be really costly, painful and can cause a lot of scars.
* Infrared coagulator for wart Treatment: Another kind of laser treatment where infrared light is used. Thiss is a bit cheaper as compared to other laser treatments for wart removal. Have the same side effects like the laser treatment.
However, one must note that warts can re-occur anytime even after the treatment. Hence, one may have to go for the Wart Removal treatment again
