What is Acne or Pimples?
Acne is a common problem of young age. It is a result of the body undergoing harmonal changes which may result in acne formation. Acne is noninflammatory follicular papules or comedones and is a inflammatory papules, pustules, and nodules which are formed at many body parts including face, upper neck, chest, back, upper arms and shoulders.
In simple words, if you find a bulb like projection being formed at the above mentioned body parts (mainly in the youths), which is characterised by small, red coloured or body colored non-inflammatory bulb kinds of formation, then it may be acne or pimple.
Which body parts are affected by Acne?
Acne or pimples may occur at multiple places on your body - common occurances are mainly on face, but they are also seen spreading to upper neck, chest, back, upper arms and shoulders.
What are the chances that a person may be affected by Acne?
It is estmated that around 90% of the human population usually suffers from Acne during their youth age. The problem may subside as the youths turn into adults, but may continue to adulthood.
The reason for acne occuring during the young age is because of an increase in male sex hormones, which people of both genders accrue during puberty.
If a person starts to get acnes, how long will they last?
Its a very undecisive factor. Once started, there is no way to know how long a person will continue to have acne problems. They tend to disappear when people reach early twenties, but not in all cases. However, it is sure to reduce in volume once the person reaches early twenties. Worst of the worst cases have seen acnes going beyond 40 years.
What are the side effects or bad effects of acne?
Acnes may or may not be painful, depends upon person to person. However, they have a bad impact on a person's looks which may result in a person loosing self confidence. This is crucial because it happens during the start of adolescence and this is the age when a person starts to learn to stand up on his own feet, make career decisions, etc. The negative impact of acne may be adverse at this stage. Hence, it is usually advised to have an early treatment of Acne, especially if a person is known to be easily distrubed on self esteem.
Another drawback of acne is the scars which the acne may leave behind. If it is deep enough, then it may permanently stay of the skin for the entire life.
