Here we list a few areas where a patient who has undergone a Tooth Extraction or Wisdom Tooth Extraction should take care of:Dry socket or Alveolar Osteitis:
- It is a complication situation after extraction
- It rarely occurs
- It generally happens when patient does not follow dentist instruction
- It can be possible when doctor do not give proper instruction to patient after extraction
What are dry socket:
- After extraction a clot is formed in socket or missing tooth space
- But in this condition clot is displaced due to any reason and underlying bone is exposed
Signs and symptoms of dry socket:
- This condition is not appear immediately after extraction
- It occurs 3 to 4 days after extraction
- Severe pain at the site of extraction
- Patient feel discomfort
- Bed taste in mouth
- Foul smell when patient open his mouth
- Clot is missing in socket
- Underlying bone is visible
Treatment of Dry socket or Alveolar Osteitis:
- Pain killers are not very effective in this condition
- Patient should visit his dentist
- Dentist will apply a medicated dressing on that site
- Dressing should change every day
- Patient should not touch the wound
Note:
- After extraction it is advised that patient should not spit or gargle on that day to prevent the dislodgement of clot
- Medication is just to decrease the symptoms and it should allow to cure naturally
